A NOTE regarding valve(s): We can supply this (and the 2T-SD60, the TTVTS, TTVTM, and other kits), with EITHER a single 6-port motor drive Pollak, or two ROAM 3-port valves. We leave the decision on this up to you and your research and preferences. Overall, for ease of installation, it is hard to beat the Pollak 6-port motor drive, and in most cases, it has been very reliable. Also, we've not ever in 11 years and some fairly cold winters, had a problem with the fact that when you use a 6-port, a small amount (ounces) of oil go back in to the diesel tank at "purge". Fill up the diesel tank when it gets to halfway, and re-dilute, and it has always worked for us. However, some customers prefer to use two 3-ports, and do a "staggered" purge, to have no veg in the diesel. This requires a different switch, or more automation and assumes that the two 3-port valves will each be twice as reliable as the Pollak (since you now have two). Again, we've sold thousands of the Pollaks with very few problems reported, and they are easier to install. But if you wish to have two ROAM valves instead, the price is the same, so LET US KNOW when you order, using the comment section of the order form.
ADVANTAGES of THIS KIT:Leave your spare tire in the car, safely stowed where it belongs, in the spare tire well.An SVO tank that you can fill easily without having to remove all the contents of your trunk and pull up the carpeting first. Double the capacity in the same footprint compared to a "fishing boat" tank. Much less expensive than a custom aluminum tank! Easy to see fuel level (translucent), large fill opening, easy to fill. Fits VW, Mercedes, many others. Large tank opening means you can refill directly from a NATO ("jerry) can without a funnel, using a bit of care... nice on longer trips when carrying extra vegoil in fuel cans. NOTE: This one fits very well in the right rear corner of the older Jettas, and is a perfect fit for the 94-99.5 Jetta, fits snug behind the wheel well, right into the corner. Also fits behind the wheel well at rear of BJ60 Landcruiser and other vehicles. Loosen the straps and move tank sideways to replace a tail iight, if need be. It also fits well in newer Jettas. For Golfs and Wagons, you might want a custom aluminum tank. See our tanks section.

COOLANT-HEATED FILTER: VM2 coolant heated filter with one filter element and fittings for fuel and coolant lines. Convenient top-mounted filter, compact design, will fit in many engine bays while still providing a ***LARGER FILTER ELEMENT*** than most other systems and filters currently offered. THIS MEANS LONGER FILTER LIFE WITH LESS PRE-TREATMENT OF THE OIL. Typical filter life is 3000-6000 km on oil that has simply been allowed to settle for 2-3 weeks at room temperature and then pumped into the tank using our Wand (with 70 micron quality control filter). The VM2 filter is heated by engine coolant, heat rises easily to the easy-to-change top-mounted filter element. Drain valve provided to drain the integrated water separator and for use at filter change time. This filter drains and re-primes after a filter change very well. Even faster and more complete draining prior to removing old filter element can be accomplished by adding the manual brass 3-port valve and installing on the outlet side of the filter. This addition will make filter changes both fast and mess-free, as it allows the last little bit of oil to drain out very quickly. (Or just wrap a rag around the filter base at filter change time to catch the very small amount of oil that does not drain out).
Extra coolant port for mounting our "ATS" sensor (which automatically delays switching until engine is hot enough to safely operate on vegetable oil) directly in the VM2 filter base is included with all VM2 filters.
A "V" port (Vacuum) and "P" (Pressure) ports are also included and these can be used for vacuum or pressure gauges depending on whether you are "pulling" fuel through the filter (vacuum) or "pushing" (fuel through the filter)
DRAINING AND CHANGING THE FILTER element IS EASY. This filter was designed from the ground up to be used as a biodiesel and vegetable oil fuel filter. HEATS UP FAST, HEAT RISES TO FILTER FAST! This is THE most critical spot in an SVO system in cold weather, the filter must be able allow vegetable oil to move through the filter element quickly, a well-heated filter with good flow capacity is more important than in-tank heat, heated fuel lines, valve orifice, etc. It is the FILTER that is the point of restriction. This one flows FAST and EASY with LONG FILTER LIFE.
ORB (O-Ring Boss) fittings are included to be used with the VM2 filter. These are very nice to work with, since they can be oriented in any direction and THEN tightened, so that you do not have to use a lot of thread sealant (none, in fact) trying to get proper orientation of the fitting and also a tight air-leak-free seal. The one exception is that you need to use one straight fitting (supplied), at the Fuel-Out fitting. If that makes too tight a bend for the fuel line, you can add an elbow in the fuel line itself, just past the straight fitting. The reason you have to use one straight fitting at the fuel-out (normally) is that there is not enough clearance to use both an elbow into one of the coolant fittings (or two of them) AND the Fuel fitting, all at once.
There are four coolant ports on the VM2 filter, two on each side, all joined together. You can use ANY TWO coolant ports, performance will be the same. The other two unused ports are to be plugged with the supplied port plugs.
Three small brass port plugs are also supplied if you are not using the 1/8" NPT ports (one is supplied into the coolant chamber, for the SVSW50C Early Switchover Preventer, and one is supplied at the Fuel-Out section, if you are using a pressurized system and want to have a fuel pressure gauge, and one is for a vacuum gauge if you want to add that to monitor filter when using in a suction-side application).
TANK: 45 litre capacity. Translucent (check level easily while filling!) white impact resistant polyethylene tank with large fill opening (so although it may be neater, it is not absolutely necessary to use a funnel when filling from an extra SVO jug - put a cloth around the filler hole, and pour, if you forget your funnel. Of course, our Pipeline2 pump and Wand make this even easier. Set up a solar powered home filling station, and take the Pump and Wand on the road when you travel. Self-venting cap (see "tanks") 18L" x 14W" x 14H" to top of cap - recesses for tank straps are moulded in - we do not supply the straps - use good quality ratchet straps and tiedowns, well secured to floor. Tiedowns and rings that bolt through the floor can be obtained at any auto parts store. We like the Erickson or similar ratchet straps - very strong, easy to release if you need to move the tank aside to change a tail light bulb, inexpensive, etc. Just shorten by cutting off the unused part of the strap. Self-venting cap that has a vacuum-actuated, spring loaded vent that would close if the tank were ever upside down.
HOTFOX COOLANT OPERATED IN-Tank Heater IS INCLUDED! Yes, due to popular demand, we now include the in-tank coolant operated STAINLESS STEEL heated fuel pickup/tank heater with this kit! NOT INSTALLED. Comes with an installation kit and instructions.
FITTNGS: cooling system and fuel system connection fittings are provided. Hose clamps are included. 75' fuel/ coolant line. Enough for the SVO line and the line to and from the Hotfox that carries engine coolant. This is a HOSE-ON-HOSE setup. We do not use Hose-in-hose. The Hose-ON-Hose method means you can easily run individual lines, no risk of coolant loss into fuel from a cracked internal line. We have many years of experince on this, and many customers running in extreme cold. It works, and the heat exchanger in the filter and the use of the Vegtherm and a looped return gives excellent results without the need for reliance on the extra complexity, install time, and risk of a "hose-in-hose".
